Required Riding Gear

To participate in any of our riding courses, you must comply with curriculum and state guidelines for riding safety equipment. Please review the specifications below so you can arrive prepared and ready to ride.

Under no circumstances can anyone participate in riding activities without all required protective riding gear.

We highly recommend that you acquire your own helmet and gloves for class that are professionally fitted. We have loaner helmets available, but we cannot guarantee all sizes will be available.

Helmet

Helmets are provided with the course. Full-face and 3/4 helmets are acceptable provided they meet minimum DOT certification. Personal helmets are subject to inspection for DOT certification and must be in good working condition. Half helmets are not acceptable.

Eye Protection

Face shield, goggles, or some form of sunglass/glasses are required. They may be tinted or clear. Ordinary prescription glasses may be worn. For night training, eye protection must be clear.

Shirt or Jacket

Long sleeve T-shirts or dress shirts that reach the wrist or a jacket are acceptable. Select a material that is suitable for the prevailing weather conditions and provides adequate abrasion protection.

Pants

You must wear pants. No exceptions. Denim or leather pants are preferred. All pants are required to have no holes in them and must come down to the foot. Dress slacks, spandex, cotton leggings, and sweatpants are not permissible.

Gloves

Must be full-fingered and cannot be open on the back of the hand or knuckles. Gloves must be motorcycle-specific or sturdy leather. Dishwashing gloves, surgeon’s gloves, or stretch work gloves are not permissible.

Shoes or Boots

Must completely cover your ankle, have little to no heel, not be made of cloth, canvas, etc., and have a good rubber sole for traction. Thin fabric shoes made of canvas or other non-boot fabrics are not permissible.

Over the Ankle: Shoes must cover and encase the ankle where the top of the shoe is above the ankle bone.

Rain or Shine

Come prepared for the weather. Your skin should be covered while you ride; however, it is common for the face and neck to get exposure to the sun. Bring sunscreen. Be aware that you may also experience chilly conditions, so ride in layers. We recommend you bring rain gear and a change of clothing.
